  2. Next, use a putty knife to fill the hole with either premixed patching compound or joint compound. Make sure to smooth it as flush as possible with the surrounding surface.

  4. Finally, prime and paint the repaired area to blend seamlessly with the surrounding drywall.

Large Holes:

  1. Take measurements of the hole and cut a piece of drywall to match, leaving a 1/16-inch gap on all sides.
  2. Use screws to attach furring strips (1×2 wood strips) to the back of the existing drywall around the hole, ensuring they are securely in place.
  3. Insert the new drywall patch and secure it to the furring strips using screws.
  4. Cover the seam with fiberglass mesh tape, making sure to extend it along the entire perimeter of the patch.
  5. Apply a layer of joint compound over the tape, feathering out the edges, and allow it to dry.
  6. If needed, repeat the process of applying joint compound and sanding between each layer until the patched area is flush with the surrounding drywall.
  7. Prepare the repaired area by priming it and then apply paint for a seamless finish.
