St Stephens
Location: Tampa, FL
Description: St. Stephen Catholic Church opened in Valrico almost 30 years ago and the congregation met in a temporary building on Bell Shoals Road. Although the church planned to build a larger sanctuary on Boyette Road, other things took precedence. In May of 2016 they were able to break ground on their dream. The new building is a hybrid Spanish-mission and cross-shaped design that accommodates 1,200 parishioners. There is also a chapel that seats 185 and a family room with extra seating for young families. St Stephen Church is now one of the largest churches in the entire diocese, and will have room for further expansion.
Raynor Scope of Work: Raynor Company Group completed St. Stephen Catholic Church on June 1st, 2017. The Raynor Team was tasked with the interior drywall, exterior EIFS/stucco, waterproofing, Fypon, and acoustical ceilings on this project. They provided numerous soffits and ceilings throughout the Chapel of which the majority were at an elevation above 55′. There are framed grain ceilings throughout the Nave as well as numerous faux wood Fypon beams. All of the adjacent rooms and offices are new construction giving the church a completely new facility to continue their mission.
The exterior of the building is CMU with framing, sheathing, lath, stucco with multiple architectural foam shapes, and Dryvit finish. Raynor Company Group provided quality workmanship on this project while incorporating numerous finish products. Maintaining an acute level of detail was challenging in those conditions, but not impossible. Raynor is proud and honored to have been part of this project.
